One year-long internship position is available for a recent veterinary school graduate with a strong interest in equine sports medicine and/or surgery. Intern responsibilities include: care and treatment of all hospitalized patients, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and assistance with surgical procedures and outpatient appointments. Interns also spend time assisting with routine ambulatory calls, and after an initial learning period, are responsible for sharing in emergency duties with the other veterinarians. Please see our AAEP Avenues page in the student section of the AAEP website (www.aaep.org) for more information and for application instructions/dates.
One to three week externships are offered to third and fourth year veterinary students with an interest in equine practice. Externs will split time between ambulatory and hospital/surgical cases, as interest and caseload allows. Individuals are encouraged to participate in after-hours and weekend emergencies and to help with in-patient care. Housing can be provided upon request. Please contact our extern coordinator, Margie Rose, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (410) 472-3545 for more information.
