Andrew McClain, DVM, DACVS-LA

Dr. Andrew McClain was born and raised in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. His passion for horses started after riding dressage in high school. During this time, he shadowed Dr. Juzwiak here at Manor Equine Hospital and was inspired to pursue a career in equine surgery. Following graduation from Loyola Blakefield, Dr. McClain attended The Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences with a double minor in Equine Science and Biology. He then received his DVM from Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, followed by an equine internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK, from 2015-2016. Dr. McClain completed his Large Animal Surgery residency at the University of Florida in 2019, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in the spring of 2020. Prior to his arrival at Manor Equine Hospital in January 2023, he spent 3.5 years as an associate surgeon at Pine Ridge Equine Hospital, a high volume referral and emergency hospital located near Tulsa, OK.

Dr. McClain met his wife, Katie, in veterinary school. They are blessed with two wonderful children. Their family includes a St. Bernard, 3 cats, and a bunny. Dr. McClain loves spending time with his family and friends, building things for his wife, playing ice hockey, rock climbing, and being outdoors.
