Melissa A. Larkin, DVM

Dr. Melissa Larkin is originally from the Hudson Valley area of New York. She received undergraduate degress in Biology and Equine Studies from Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut, and remained in that area working as an equine veterinary assistant for two years. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2023.

Dr. Larkin moved to Maryland after graduating vet school to take a position with mentorship as a farm veterinarian for a large Standardbred racehorse breeding and sales operation, Winbak Farm. Prior to her arrival at Manor Equine Hospital in 2026, she spent a year and a half as an ambulatory veterinarian at Wolf Creek Equine Hospital in southern Maryland. Her professional interests include dentistry, senior wellness, and emergency medicine.
 
In her spare time, Dr. Larkin still rides her off the track Standardbred, Nadia, whom she has owned for 19 years and will never part with. They were once avid showjumpers and eventers, and since moving to Maryland they have begun to dabble in foxhunting and still partake in some dressage and combined training shows.  She equally adores her cat, Ziti, and also enjoys her human friends and family, knitting, and reading.
